Kerry Hatcher

Kerry Hatcher is a Macon software engineer and parent who ran for the Bibb County Board of Education at-large Post 7 seat in the May 19, 2026 nonpartisan election. Local election coverage reported that Amy Morton won the race.

In his May 1, 2026 candidate column, Hatcher emphasized transparent government, clear communication with families, support for teachers, and investment in extracurricular activities, mentors, and community partnerships. He described his professional experience as a lead software engineer.

Hatcher has served in the Georgia State Defense Force, with published reports identifying him as a specialist, sergeant, and later staff sergeant. A Summer 2014 SDF Times report describes his emergency communications and real-time mapping work during Operation Patriot Snowball III and lists him among Georgia Commendation Medal recipients. Macon-Bibb County quoted him about interagency disaster-response training in 2017, and Hurricane Michael coverage quoted him as a GSDF public affairs officer in 2018.

During the COVID-19 response in April 2020, CBS46 interviewed Hatcher about his unit’s food-packing and distribution work supporting Second Harvest of South Georgia. Related reporting credits his photographs of food-bank operations in Valdosta and Tifton. His personal biography also describes volunteering with the Macon-Bibb County Emergency Management Agency.
